Wati alternatives in 2026: what they cost and who they suit
Wati vs respond.io, SleekFlow and Gallabox: entry prices, how each bills WhatsApp messages, and which pricing model suits your team.
Key takeaways
- Entry plans range from $69 (Wati) to $150 a month (Gallabox, billed quarterly).
- The bigger difference is how messages are billed: respond.io says it adds no markup to Meta's fees; Wati and SleekFlow use their own rate cards.
- Platforms that charge per monthly active contact get expensive for brands that broadcast to large lists.
- Pick on your user count, contact volume and integrations, not on the headline price.
Most Wati alternatives cost more on paper, and some cost less in practice. The headline plan price is the easy part to compare. What decides your real bill is how a platform charges for messages and whether it prices by user or by contact. Below are Wati and three alternatives we get asked about most, compared on figures taken from each pricing page on 2 October 2026.
The four platforms at a glance #
| Platform | Entry plan | Message pricing | Also priced by |

Why the plan price is the wrong thing to compare #
Every platform here charges for WhatsApp messages on top of the plan, and for a brand that sends regularly, messages are the bigger bill. In our Wati pricing breakdown, a US brand on Wati Pro pays $149 for the plan and $365 for messages in a typical month.
So the question that matters is how each platform prices a message:
- respond.io states it is "an official WhatsApp partner with no usage markups or hidden fees". You pay Meta's rate.
- Wati and SleekFlow bill messages from their own published rate cards. Neither page says how those rates compare with Meta's. Check the rate for your main market before you sign.
- Gallabox lists WhatsApp messaging charges separately from its plans. Ask for the rate card for your markets.
A difference of half a cent per marketing message is $50 on 10,000 messages. At the volumes most retention programmes send, that outweighs the gap between plan prices.
Per user or per contact: the choice that changes everything #
Wati and Gallabox price mainly by plan and number of users. respond.io and SleekFlow add a second meter: monthly active contacts, meaning anyone you message or who messages you in a month.
That difference decides which model suits you:
- If you broadcast to large lists, contact-based pricing climbs with every customer you reach. A campaign to 20,000 customers makes 20,000 active contacts that month. Per-user pricing stays flat.
- If you run a large support or sales team talking to a smaller number of customers, per-user pricing climbs with every agent you add, while contact-based plans often include more seats. SleekFlow's entry plan includes 10 users.
Count both numbers before you compare: how many people will use the inbox, and how many customers you message in a typical month.
How we would choose #
Stay on Wati if you are a small or mid-sized ecommerce brand that mostly sends broadcasts and runs a simple chatbot. It has the lowest entry price here, and per-user pricing keeps large broadcasts predictable.
Look at respond.io if WhatsApp is one of several channels your team handles and you want message fees passed through at Meta's rate. Watch the contact meter if you broadcast heavily.
Look at SleekFlow if you need 10 or more people in the inbox from day one and work across several channels.
Look at Gallabox if your WhatsApp use is mainly lead capture and sales follow-up and you want AI agents built in. Note the quarterly minimum term.
India-focused tools such as AiSensy and Interakt are common choices for Indian businesses. We haven't covered them here.
Before you switch #
- List your integrations. On Wati, HubSpot needs the Pro plan and Salesforce needs Business. Check the equivalent tier on any alternative.
- Price your real month. Plan fee, plus your message mix multiplied by each platform's rate for your main market, plus any number or seat fees.
- Plan the migration. Chatbots, automations and integrations have to be rebuilt. Ask both providers how your WhatsApp number and approved templates move across.
- Use the trial properly. Most trials are short (Wati and respond.io offer 7 days). Test the flows you will actually run, not the demo ones.
FAQs
What is the best alternative to Wati?
It depends on how you use WhatsApp. respond.io suits multi-channel teams that want Meta's message fees passed through without markup. SleekFlow suits larger teams that need 10 users from the start. Gallabox suits sales teams that want AI agents. For broadcast-heavy brands on a budget, Wati itself is often the cheapest of the four.
Is respond.io cheaper than Wati?
Not on plan price: respond.io starts at $99 a month on monthly billing against Wati's $69. respond.io says it adds no markup to WhatsApp message fees, so for brands that send a lot of messages the total bill can still come out lower. Compare both rate cards against your own message mix.
Can I move from Wati to another platform?
Yes. Plan for re-creating chatbots, automations and integrations on the new platform, and check with both providers how your WhatsApp number and approved templates move across before you cancel.
Are there free Wati alternatives?
Not for the WhatsApp Business API with a team inbox. Every platform here charges a plan fee plus message fees. The free WhatsApp Business app works for very small volumes but has no API, shared inbox or automation at scale.
